Christmas Gift Ideas

Having a hard time finding something for the person who has everything ?

Want to teach your children the true meaning of "It is better to give than receive" ?

Want to make a difference in someones life?

Want to "Pay it foward" in thanksgiving for all your blessings?

Over the next few weeks I will be sharing ideas with you via this blog of some ways you can do just that as well as helping to support people in Haiti.  Please be assured this is not done through a large corporation or business this is done by everyday people, like you who want to make a difference.

The Goat program
Promise for Haiti maintains a herd of  hybred "Billy Goats" at the farm for the purpose of giving away an impregnated female goat to poor families who qualify.  Each family is expected to give back to the farm the first female goat born to the litter.  These goats are then impregnated and vaccinated so more goats can be given away.  The recipients are allowed to bring back female goats for vaccination and to be bred.  Farmers can raise a herd for meat for their family, to sell, to raise more goats, for milk and other purposes.  Goats help keep the Pignon streets free from liter and provide an income for the family while being easy to maintain.  Your donation of $85 will buy a goat to give to a needy family.  Click the donate now button and provide not only food, but possibly an income for a poor family in Pignon.
Each female goat, when purchased, requires quarantine for deworming and de-licing before they are crossed with the large males.  Once pregnant, each female goat is given to a family for free.  Over 400 pregnant female goats have been given to Haitian families to date. The full cost for purchase and quarantine is $85 per goat.

These pictures were taken last January by Members of the Fargo-Moorhead Medical Team who were in Pignon Haiti doing surgery and giving medical care.  They also were able to awarding goats because of donations made by friends,  family and people wanting to make a difference.
